The Royal Society of Marine Painters Annual Open Exhibition 2016
The Royal Society of Marine Painters Annual Open Exhibition
Mall Galleries, London
27th September-7th October 2016
On Tuesday I had the very good fortune to have two paintings showing for a second year in the Annual Open Exhibition of The Royal Society of Marine Artists, Mall Galleries, London.
The characteristic warmth with which non members are welcomed was in abundance and the good humour with which the speeches were delivered belied a discerning eye which keeps the standard so typically high.
Red dots on the award winners’ pieces were to be expected, given the sumptuousness of the winning works. They were worthy prize winners and should enjoy well deserved congratulations. President, Elizabeth Smith’s speech encouraged non member submissions with a kind supportive approach that inspired.
This was a strong show with many paintings requiring a long, ponderous gaze so high was the standard.
I have included a few of my favourites here though my photography does not do them justice.
